Attributed to Edgar Degas French
Not on view
Like virtually all artists in Rome, Degas, who traveled to Italy frequently, tried his hand at depicting local inhabitants in their picturesque costumes. This work dates from the first year of Degas's formal art studies in Italy, 1856–57, when he was in his early twenties.
