Not on view

A deerhound faces right, sitting by an armchair and cloth-covered table in a castle watching over over the chivalric accoutrements of its absent master. These include a 16th century helmet and breast-plate, a cup, books, a scroll and quill, two rapiers, a candlestick made out of an eagle's talon, hawking gloves and a bell. Based on a painting of 1829 now at the Tate Gallery, London.
