Short Sword (Yatagan) with Scabbard

Algerian

Not on view

The yatagan was a favorite sidearm worn in the Ottoman world, not only in Turkey but also in the Balkans and North Africa. The embossed silver mounts of this example follow the European-inspired Rococo fashion current in the Ottoman court. The silver mounts are stamped with an Algerian hallmark.
