This exceptionally fine bronze statuette is said to have been found on Cyprus; it is nonetheless a purely Greek work. In style, it reflects the innovations of Polykleitos, a contemporary of Pheidias and Myron, whose major achievements were in bronze. Particularly noteworthy here is the masterful articulation of the body.
