Welcome panel

Anonymous, Swiss Swiss

Not on view

This panel—the work of an anonymous glass painter after an anonymous designer—is a typical example of the many windows that brought light and bright colors to the dark rooms of Swiss sixteenth-and seventeenth-century houses. As indicated by the inscription, it represents two burghers from Jestetten (a border town in present-day Germany), Christoff vom Greüt and his wife, Catrin. The figures should be considered representations of the patrons rather than actual portraits.
