The young Prince George (later George III, 1738–1820) became heir apparent on the death of his father, Frederick, Prince of Wales, in 1751. This portrait is from a print dated 1751 by Simon-François Ravenet (1748–1814) based on a painting by Richard Wilson (1714–1782) of 1749.
