Altar cross

possibly Spanish

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 535

Not all parts of this cross are of the same age and origin. The enameled mount around the crystal base, which represents the hill of Calvary, differs from the mounts on the cross itself. The paw feet may be additions as well.
