One of a pair with 17.190.2090, formerly considered sketches for figures on the Fontana dell'Isolotto in the Boboli Gardens in Florence. The fountain consists of a large figure representing the Ocean, standing on a plinth which is supported by three River Gods, the Euphrates, the Ganges and the Nile.
