For Schiaparelli's winter 1933-34 collection, George Hoyningen-Huene photographed Schiaparelli wearing a similar cape of a special quilted taffeta fabric produced by textile manufacturer Bianchini-Férier. The cape in the Brooklyn Museum collection, a close variation of the one in the photograph, was worn by fashionable Schiaparelli devotee Millicent Rogers, and is probably from that same collection. The fascinating textured fabric of Rogers' cape is a signature of Schiaparelli's work, as she was known for her treasury of unique fabrics.
