In the last few years of the 1950s, women's fashionable shoe design was distinguished by attenuated lines and increasingly pointed and angular shapes. This mule exemplifies the apogee of this trend in about 1960. Its elongated toe, thin sole and heel, and angular cut of the tab all contribute to the extreme effect.
