Ensemble
Designer Madeleine Vramant French
Not on view
In 1949, marketing company A.M. Tenney Associates commissioned French couturiers to design clothing that featured Estron, a new synthetic fiber developed by Tennessee Eastman Corporation. This three-piece day ensemble by Vramant is executed in Teca estron, woven in America, according to a contemporaneous press release. The idea of three matching pieces was a unique idea of Vramant's. The folded collar detail on the cape lends sophistication and the "New Look" silhouette of the suit is a chic canvas for the new synthetic fiber.
