First plate of album with 60 19th-century costume plates and 1 drawing of mostly women's historical costumes, featuring a variety of designs for traditional costumes from different parts of the world, as well as costumes for literary characters, such as Esmeralda. This plate, titled "Turkish Costumes", contains a design for a female costume, made up of a green jacket with rich golden scrolling motifs, with flared sleeves with red and gold stripes and with pleated white borders over a white linen undershirt and a pink, ankle-length underdress. The woman is wearing golden mules with red details, and a parure of matching earrings, necklace, bracelet, and brooch made out of gold, pearls, and rubies. Her hair is tied in braids decorated with strips of pearls, and she wears a green headdress with a brooch, matching the design of her coat, from which hang strips of diamonds or pearls. She is holding a colorful, exotic bird on her hand. To her left side stands a man, also in turkish costume, wearing a blue vest over a red jacket with rich gold embroideries, cream pantaloons, red boots, and matching red-and-gold bag and spade cover. He wears a cream turban with red and blue stripes on his head, and a brown cape with blue borders and tassels hangs from his shoulder. The couple stands on a Turkish carpet on a terrace with columns, near a short stand, half-covered with a textile, where a blue jar stands.
