A large dog stands across a mountain path, looking left, as a man and dog approach from behind with mountains and a lake beyond. Based on a painting made by Landseer in 1815 when he was just thirteen, with the figures by Thomas Landseer, exhibited at the Society of Painters in Oil and Water Colours, Spring Gardens in 1817.
