Model of the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri

Modern (model); New Kingdom (original)

Project Supervisor Howard I. Cornell American

Not on view

The model was originally displayed surrounded with depictions of the mountain cliffs. This part was removed when the model was retired. The model suffered from its long time in underground storage and was cleaned and restored in 2013 by Anne Serrotta to be sent to Tokyo for a loan exhibition. The small figures of sculpture etc, which had disappeared, were not replaced. No attempt was made to integrate the latest discoveries by the Polish Mission.

For an essay on this model, see Model of the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri.
