Found one on top of the next on the head of a woman in a Roman Period burial excavated and recorded by the Museum's Egyptian Expedition, a red cap (25.3.217a) and two brown caps (25.3.217b and c) are rare datable examples of ancient headwear. Drawstrings served to tighten the red cap over two layers of cloth, one of which is 25.3.218, that were wrapped about the head of the mummy.
