On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 371

The embossed battle scenes derive from engravings by Antonio Tempesta (1555–1630) and Jacques Callot (1592–1635). The style of the surrounding figures, as well as the ornamental framework, is reminiscent of Dutch goldsmiths' work. The coat of arms at the base of the front plate is that of the Frankfurt branch of the Guaita family.
