Known as "gold caps", this type of headwear was common to Osnabrück, Westphalia in Germany. These ornately decorated caps are embroidered in foil, metallic thread, and cord, creating an overall gold appearance. This example would have been considerably time-consuming with the embroidery worked in flat metal strips, and the inclusion of foil accents.
