Bronze statuette of a man

Greek

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 157

In its original condition, this will have been a fine, small figure of a man. While the legs are muscular and sturdy, the torso is sensitively rendered. Features such as the porous ness of the casting and the rendering of the genitals suggest that the work may be a Roman adaptation of a classical Greek type.
