Oktoberfest at The Cloisters

On September 29, 2012, Spectrum celebrated Oktoberfest in one of New York City's most enchanting settings: The Cloisters museum and gardens.

Beer, a staple drink for medieval Europeans and the libation of choice for Oktoberfest, was served in the carefully tended gardens of this northern-Manhattan branch of the Metropolitan Museum. A representative from Harpoon Brewery discussed unique brewing processes and offered a tasting of their IPA, Imperial IPA, and Rich and Dans Rye IPA beers.

Deirdre Larkin, head horticulturist at The Cloisters and main contributor to the blog The Medieval Garden Enclosed, gave garden tours with a particular emphasis on hops.
