Oktoberfest at The Cloisters

On September 24, 2011, Spectrum celebrated Oktoberfest in one of New York City's most enchanting settings: The Cloisters museum and gardens.

Beer, a staple drink for medieval Europeans and the libation of choice for Oktoberfest, was served in the carefully tended gardens of this northern-Manhattan branch of the Metropolitan Museum. Peter Brod, Harpoon Brewery representative, was on hand to discuss Harpoon's unique brewing processes and offer a tasting of IPA, Imperial IPA, Czech Hop Harvest, and Oktoberfest beers.

Deirdre Larkin, head horticulturist of The Cloisters and main contributor to the blog The Medieval Garden Enclosed, gave garden tours with a particular emphasis on hops.
