American Wing Period Rooms: Virtual Reality Tour

The popular American Wing period rooms offer the Museum visitor an opportunity to see how Americans of earlier centuries furnished and decorated their domestic interiors. The rooms demonstrate particular styles and, together, trace the development of American interior design over the last four centuries. Assembled and installed with the goal of presenting succinct stylistic statements of a given place and time in America, these rooms are marriages of period woodwork, furniture, and accessories with authentically reproduced paint, wallpaper, and fabric.
Please note that the Hart Room and the Verplanck Room will be temporarily closed to the public through Fall 2008.
Explore six American Wing period rooms online through a Virtual Reality Tour.

The production of the Virtual Reality feature on this website has been made possible by Michael Finkelstein and Sue-ann Friedman.

Additional support has been provided by the Roslyn and Leslie Goldstein Foundation.
