The iconic shoes of the 1920s were the spectator oxford for men and the T-strap for women. Increased attention on the feet effected by the short skirts of the 1920s encouraged experimentation and innovation in women's shoe design, often involving the geometric forms of the Art Deco aesthetic. The circular cutout design on the T-strap of this pair of evening shoes is particularly progressive and modernistic. The strap is secured by elastic concealed in the integral channel around the top of the quarters, a unique and very modern departure from the traditional buckle.
