This photograph is accompanied by two advertisements for Ravel's show: "Ravel's Humpty Dumpty and Drawing Room Circus." In one bill, the press notices are dated January 1883. The bills were printed in Toronto and Urbane, Ohio. The Springfield Sunday news: "...Ravel is certainly the peer of the best living clowns. His Humpty Dumpty is the most popular on the boards to-day." Detroit "Chaff", Michigan: "C.W. Ravel, the head and front of the company, is one of the finest pantomimic clowns that ever visited Detroit."
